As promised, the video Legal Week put together to celebrate the illustrious legal career of Janet Gaymer — winner of the City of London Law Society Lifetime Achievement Award at the Legal Week Awards 2006 — is now available to view.
It features generous contributions from five people who have worked closely with Gaymer during her 35 years in the law. Former senior partner Bill Knight took her on as a trainee and then — as he explains in the video — marched into her office on the day nominations closed for his successor as senior partner in order to ensure that she put her name forward. Jane Mann, head of employment at Fox Williams, first met Gaymer in the interview room when she was applying for a job she did not get. They went on to found the Employment Lawyers Association together. Also featured in the video are John Taylor, chief executive of ACAS, Paul Goulding QC, of Blackstone Chambers, and Sir Patrick Elias, the president of the Employment Appeals Tribunal.
